Craybeast.

Bigger, stronger, tougher, smarter and more evil then freshwater craymen. Living in sea, craybeasts confront sea predators endlessly, so they developed an impressive fighting qualities. They are more organized and able to coordinate military offensive, as they have to constantly move and conquer territory in their natural habitat. Their "language" is rich enough to act consistently and consciously. Before Trickster’s attack only foreign magicians all over the city knew of the existence of craybeasts (*), but then nobody said "beasts", only "sea craymen", because they do not have greater amount of “bestial” traits then common craymen. That name they received after the attack. They, fierce sea creatures, rather than relatively modest freshwater cousins was called by Trickster as reinforcements for his army. With the magical power of The Eye he took control of their primitive souls, strengthened their abilities and made them his soldiers. Mysterious symbols appeared on the shells of recruits - it was an elite army of monsters.

Great luck that Garrett succeed to block Trickster’s portal, from where craybeasts arrived, because even for well-armed hammerite fighting such a monster is hard task. Strong azure armor of fallen craybeasts have been studied for a long time by alchemists, who tried to uncover the secret of that armor’s solidity.

(*) Some areas of Thief world are available only for people who know elemental magic. Therefore, Hand Brotherhood have something to tell even to experienced merchant or seaman.
